Upper arm reshaping (Brachioplasty)
Upper Arm Lift or Brachioplasty is a cosmetic surgery operation that will remove excess skin and fatty deposits from the upper arms. This bodily enhancement procedure is designed for those who wish to have the slimmer more shapely upper arms.
Reasons for Considering an Arm Lift:
- Inability of dieting and exercise to improve the area.
- Excessive accumulation of skin following weight loss.
- Loss of skin elasticity
- The removal of unsightly skin and fat deposits to produce a more flattering look.
General procedure
Arm Lift takes place under a general anaesthetic. The procedure lasts about three hours.
The surgeon will make an incision at the elbow running to the armpit and remove a section of skin and any surplus fat. The remaining skin is pulled together and stitched into place.
Bandages and dressings are applied to the arms. You will be required to stay overnight in hospital as movement will be minimal initially. You will need 1-2 weeks off work to rest and a high standard of hygiene will be important whilst the area is healing to prevent infection.
Recovery Process
Generally, post-operative instructions call for plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and recovery time. As the body recuperates, the patient can expect some swelling, pain, and discomfort. Medication can be prescribed to relieve any pain caused by the procedure. Sutures will be removed at 7-14 days and you will be required to wear a supporting garment to ensure a smooth result. Normal activities can generally be resumed after two weeks. With proper diet and exercise the striking results of this cosmetic surgery will be long lasting.
